DISCOVER SOUTH MADAGASCAR: 12-DAY ADVENTURE

DAY 1: Antanarivo 

Tana, picking up from the airport in Tana and spend one night there

DAY 2: Tana- Antsirabe it`s a 4.30h drive, in the afternoon we will visit the city of Antirabe, it`s one of the oldest cities in Madagscar. Well known for its termal places with one of the oldest hotel in Madagascar: Hotel de Terme. The city of Antsirabe is also famous for beautiful architecture and for handcraft market. Due to the hight of the city Antisrabes the temperature is quite fresh, warmer clothes are needed.

DAY 3: Antisrabe- Miandrivazo/ 220kms (5.30h)

Dedicated day for road transfert,  arrving to  Miandrivazo, a really calm village except during the market day. It’s also one if the hotest cities of Madagascar. If not tired you can enjoy the rest of your day by taking pictures on the hight points of the village, and to the Mahajilo river waiting for the end of day to enjoy a relaxing evening in the hotel .

DAY 4: Miandrivazo – Masikampy : starting of the river trip (Tsirabihina-Anosinampela) 50km (1.30h) In Masiakampy we going on the river that`s where we start the cruise with the boat. We going to arrive later in Anosinampela to visit a beautiful cascade. We going to stay overnight on the boat. The boattrip takes 3 Days. 

DAY 5: Anosinampela – Begidro

Continuation of the cruise after breakfast, passing through the gorge of the Tsiribihina where you will have a possibility to see the lemurs, Sifaka lemur or /and the brown lemurs, chameleons, birds. After lunch we walk to the cascade, and the natural swimming pool, swimming in the natural lake and waterfall to fresh up the journey. In the evening we are watching a beautiful sunset. 

DAY 6: Begidro- Belo Sur Tsiribihina et Bekopaka 10km

Arriving in Belo Sur Tsiribihina we are finishing the boat trip and go back on the road. After the lunch break, we going to continue for 4h drive on the road till we arriving in Bekopaka. Staying one night in Bekopaka.

DAY 7: Parc National du Tsingy de Bemaraha

Visit for a full day in the National Park of Tsingy de Bemaraha. Tsingy de Bemaraha translated as a place where one can`t walk barefoot. Tsingy de Bemaraha was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage since 1990. After the visit we going to staying one night in Bekopaka.

DAY 8: Kirindy

We arriving at the end of the day in Kirindy, where we going to do a nocturnal visit to see the mouse lemur, we going to stay a night in Kirindy.

DAY 9: Departure early morning departure for the National Park Kirindy. In the afternoon we continue the drive to Bekopaka to see Allee the Baobab and we going to see a beautiful sunset there. And spend our night in Morondava.

DAY 10: We drive from Morondava with the 4x4 it`s a full day trip in the car we drive to Antsirabe to stay there for one night, the full trip takes like 8 h.

DAY 11: Next day early we drive from Antisrabe to Tana to visit Rova Castle and we stay overnight in Tana.

DAY 12: Transfer day to the Airport.

  • Can I travel alone to Madagascar ?

    Yes you can travel alone but the streets are not well signature and the public transport outside of Nosy Be is quite a challenge. I would suggest to take a good tourguide on your hand who speaks your language so you feel comfortable.

  • Is it possible to rent a car to travel alone in Madagascar ?

    The signalisation is almost not existing and Internet is not everywhere.

  • How can I have acces to internet in Madagascar

    Best is to buy a SIM Card from Telma or Orange and buy a plan for 25.000 Ariary

    Most Shop`s taking the local currency Ariary. You can bring EURO to exchange it here in Madagascar little notes are more welcome than the big one in the exchange offices and banks. Would be good to check if you can pay the hotel with the credit card. Cash drawer only existing on touristic areas Visa is working everywhere Mastercard sometimes.

    March to November is the best time from December till February is raining Season.

  • What has to be on my packing list ?

    Miskito Spray, Shorts with light Material, open Shoes, Flip Flop, Sun cream, enough EUR, first AID kit, Aspirin, Imodium, Fenistil, Malariaprohylaxe, Filter Bottle like Katadyn (the tap water is not drinkable but you can buy water at the supermarket)

  • What is the temperature in Nosy Be ?

    All year between 28°-33° degrees, attention capital city of the main island can be much colder. Depends on where you plan to travel in Madagascar check first the tempretaure befor you pack your suitcase.

  • Is there some vaccination required to enter the country ?

    It is not an obligation to enter Madagascar, but the doctors recommend it.
